Bill was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in 1945. His father had just returned from serving in the Marine Corps in the south Pacific and his mother had just finished her job at Fisher Aircraft as a riveter building airplanes to support the War effort.

Bill met Ann Royal in 1966 while working for the National Park Service as a Seasonal Ranger Naturalists in Rock Creek Park, Washington, D.C.  Ann had just arrived from Ireland and was working for a Falls Church family as an "au pair."  They married in Memphis in 1968 and had a daughter, Erica, who is now an attorney practicing in Bradenton, Florida. 

Bill left a research position at Oak Ridge National Labs in 1974, and the family moved to Charlotte County, Florida where he started an environmental consulting firm and eventually went to work for a major Florida community developer.  His entry into the real estate industry was through the engineering/environmental career path as opposed to the more conventional finance or marketing routes. 

Bill has maintained an active involvement in the environmental and scientific community in southwest Florida while earning his principal income from the development and sale of real estate.  Self employed since 1985, he is a licensed General Contractor and Real Estate Broker, currently serves on the boards of Bon Secour Hospital, the YMCA and Friends of Charlotte Harbor, served for 12 years on the Board of SunBank-Gulf Coast and is a former Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board Member. 

In 1997 Bill began teaching full-time as a Professor in the Health Sciences Division at Edison Community College's Charlotte Campus.  The curriculum is designed to support Nursing, Radiology, Emergency Medical, Pre-Medical, and Science Majors. 

Bill’s hobbies include USTA league tennis, windsurfing, and back country camping.
