A wolf lichen, growing on a dead
snag.

Widely used as a dye by native
americans, wolf lichen is also reputed
to have been used as a poison to
kill wolves in northern Europe, thus
the name.

The some american tribes are said to
have used it to make poison arrow
heads, while others are said to have
used it as a medicinal tea.

I personally use it as a cure for broken
ribs, pneumonia, the common cold,
Parkinson's, and to aid in the regeneration
of lost fingers.  I also use it to diminish
the predictable rants of certain skeptics.
